Phobias and Fears

Phobias can seem a part of us. They are really just another type of story we have added to our sense of who we are. Phobias can seem daunting, and while they may bring terrible discomfort, if you commit to the work, they can be quickly resolved.

Almost everyone has some situation or experience that they are fearful of. For most people these are minor inconveniences – when that fear is severe enough to cause intense anxiety and interfere with everyday living, it is time to seek some help.

Fears of objects, situations or activities, such as:

  • Fear of flying
  • Fear of dogs or other animals
  • Fear of spiders
  • Claustrophobia – fear of confined spaces (e.g. elevators)
  • Fear of public transportation
  • Fear of driving (usually after a traffic incident)
  • Fear of the tube/underground
  • Fear of exams
  • Fear of being alone
  • Fear of heights
  • Fear of the dark

The good news is that the combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy  and hypnotherapy has a long history of treating fears and phobias and there’s a huge amount of research that shows the combination of the two is extremely effective.
